Apple seeds iOS 4 Gold Build to DevelopersTechtree News Staff, Jun 09, 2010 1230 hrs ISTFinal iOS 4 build gets jailbroken, and iTunes 9.2 beta update available only for Mac platform

Just a day after the announcement of iPhone 4, Apple has seeded iOS 4 (formerly iPhone OS 4.0) Gold Master build (final) to iPhone Developer Program members. Apparently, to install the iOS 4 Gold build on iPhone or iPod Touch devices, developers need to download iTunes 9.2 beta for Mac platform. This new iOS 4 Gold build is already jailbroken with a minor bundle and works only with iPhone 3GS so far.

Apple seeded the iOS 4 SDK Gold Master build and along came firmwares for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, second generation iPod Touch and the third generation iPod Touch. These iOS 4 Gold Master firmwares have 8A293 build number. However, to install these iOS 4 8A293 build firmwares on any of the aforementioned devices, one requires iTunes 9.2 beta which is currently available only on Mac.

This means iTunes 9.2 update for Mac OS X and Windows platform will be rolled out in a few days or on June 21 along with iOS 4 updates.

While many developers were busy testing iOS 4 GM builds, one iPhone software platform hacker (enthusiast) managed to come up with a jailbreak solution. Named msft.guy, this person has come out with a bundle for PwnageTool jailbreak software usable on the Mac platform.
